STAMFORD, Conn. — It may have been raining, but that didn’t stop Tyler LaFranco, Malaki Benotmame and many South End Stamford families from enjoying Harbor Point’s Second Annual Christmas Tree Lighting.

It's a way for Harbor Point to say thank-you to all the people who have supported it,  said John Freeman, executive vice president of Building and Land Technology, which developed Harbor Point.

“You cannot do any of these projects alone,” Freeman said of the company's wish to get involved with the community it is working in.
In addition to the tree-lighting, the Waterside School Choir sang carols and Santa, Mrs. Clause and several elves greeted children and handed out candy.

In addition to the holiday fun, less-than-desirable weather is also becoming part of the annual event. While it rained this year, it was “blistering cold" the year before, Freeman said with a laugh before he and State Sen. L. Scott Frantz lit the tree.

The Harbor Point redevelopment project has given Stamford several luxury residential properties, as well as large and small commercial units
